Geologic
Map
Historic Activity:
- Pavlof is probably the most consistently active
volcano in the Aleutian arc with at least 36 eruptions
since 1790.
Recent Activity:
- In Nov. 1983, vigorous explosions accompanied strong
seismicity. In April 1986, an ash plume rose to 5 km.
During June to Sept. 1986, strombolian activity and a
lava flow were reported. From Nov. 1986 to Feb. 1987,
small lava fountains fed lava flows which reach the
ocean. New tephra was reported on its slopes in mid
August, 1988.
