Geologic Background:

The flat-topped summit of the central cone of Ebeko, on Paramushir Island, contains 3 craters along a SSW-NNE line and several explosion craters on the slopes.

Historic Activity:

  • Eruptions in 1793, 1859, 1934-1935, 1965, and 1967. In 1934 a liquid sulfur flow was reported.
