Geologic Background:The late-Pleistocene to Holocene Inyo Craters Inyo Crater volcanic begins near the northwestern edge of the Long Valley caldera and extends south for about 7 miles onto the caldera floor. The chain includes silicic domes, flows, tephra deposits, and explosion craters. The craters are chemically and tectonically distinct from the Long Valley system. Historic Activity:
