Geologic Background:

The King's Bowl Rift includes a 6-km long eruptive fissure and a small associated lava field covering about 2.5 square kilometers. The rift is located about 20 miles northwest of American Falls, Idaho. King's Bowl Rift was recently (November 2000) added to the Craters of the Moon National Monument.
