Geologic Background:

The Wapi Volcanic Field forms a low shield with a summit region which contains 11 eruptive centers. The field is located about 18 miles west northwest of American Falls, Idaho. The entire volcanic field was recently (November 2000) added to the Craters of the Moon National Monument.
