Welcome to Central Oregon Audubon

This site was developed to provide birding information for local Audubon members and the Central Oregon community.  Here's a little about the site:

Evenings With Nature are special programs that feature topics of interest for all nature lovers.  The programs are presented by leading authorities from around the state.  The programs are free and open to the public.  Monthly programs could not be scheduled for the 2005-06 season.  However, we hope to schedule a couple of presentations over the next few months.  Check the website often for details.

What's the best feed for your backyard feeder?   What should you do to get your feeder ready for winter?  Need ideas for your next bird feeder?  Check out the Backyard Feeder Tips.

The Calendar page has important dates for Birder's Night,   COAS field trips and other birding activities, like the Klamath Basin Bald Eagle Conference and the John Scharff Migratory Bird Festival in Burns.

Northern Hawk-Owl by Jim AndersonDo you want to know what the local Audubon chapter has been doing?  The Newsletter page has highlights from projects, field trips, general birding information and other chapter activities.

Rare bird alert: Photo at right, taken by Jim Anderson, is a Northern Hawk-Owl, rare in Oregon.  Check Oregon Birders On-Line for the latest sightings of rare species.

The Field Notes section is an extensive database of Central Oregon bird sightings from 1995 to 2000.  The information is useful for planning your next birding adventure.  Searching the database is easy from the table or "Find" feature in the "Edit" menu of your browser.

We hope you find the Web site informative and useful.  An effort will be made to update pages often to keep information current and accurate.  Suggestions for improvement are welcome.  Please direct comments to Chris Carey, 541-388-6363.
